(Redundant Array of Inexpensive (Independent) Disks) дисковый массив (матрица), RAID-система внешней памяти, массив недорогих (или независимых) дисков с избыточностьюметод исключения последствий ошибок подсистемы на жёстких дисках, основанный на том, что два или более жёстких дисков работают параллельно под управлением специальной программы. Это повышает производительность и уменьшает риск потери данных. Каждый диск содержит лишь часть данных, необходимых для воссоздания целостного набора данных. Данные для записи на каждый отдельный диск расщепляются на так называемые полосы, размером от одного бита до нескольких мегабайт, и сопровождаются дополнительными битами для коррекции ошибок. Если происходит сбой в работе одного из дисков, данные можно восстановить на новом диске, используя содержимое других дисков массива. Дисковые массивы широко применяются в сетевых серверах и системах хранения данных. Существуют различные способы объединения дисков - уровни RAID: RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 2, RAID 3, RAID 4, RAID 5 и т. д., каждый со своими достоинствами и недостатками. Комитет RAID Advisory Board в конце 1997 г. заменил уровни RAID 0 - RAID 5 тремя новыми классификациями: DTDS, FRDS, FTDSАнгло-русский толковый словарь терминов и сокращений по ВТ, Интернету и программированию. > RAID
